Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic
It's a Dell Inspiron 1520, NVIDIA geforce 8400M GS. After installation of that package and manually changing "nv" to "nvidia" in xorg.conf X won't start. At first it appeared like an upsplash bug, but editing it out from menu.lst seems to suggest a problem: ... (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device PCI:1:0:0. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Please see the COMMON PROBLEMS section in the README for (EE) NVIDIA(0): additional information. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device!
