I agree this bug seems to be serious - it renders your computer useless.
A 30s delay in hard drive access is pretty useless in my books. Also the
CD in a CD-Drive trick doesn't seem to work for me. The bug seems to be
present for both Maxtor and Samsung hard drives I have tried. I have a
small network of Ubuntu desktops and servers in our company and
currently have an order for new equipment on hold because of this bug.
New motherboards tend to be mainly SATA and I am not confident enough to
buy a load of new SATA boards only to find they don't run with Ubuntu.
