The OpenOffice 2.3.1 really correct this problem for me. I think new Ubuntu (8.04 Hardy Heron) will take this new version. The Ubuntu 8.04 will come in April.
thebrotherofasis , I think there is no problem test it using Virtual Box. But you can do what I did: remove all openoffice package at Synaptic and install openoffice version 2.3.1, if you don't know how do this, ask me. Or wait Ubuntu 8.04.
