I can confirm that on my Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad X61s laptop the brightness
buttons don't work either. Worse still, however, the brightness doesn't
seem to change *at all* - for example when going from AC to battery.

Pressing the "brightness up" key produces the following log:

For what it's worth,

This is Hardy, updated as of 7th March 2008 using acpi-support 0.105.

IMHO this is a very important bug to fix given the power drain caused by
high-brightness LCD. I'm quite sure it *used* to work, at least in
Gutsy, though IIRC it was a bit unpredictable.
