OK, Let's see how this works out with 2.6.24-8. The fact that the LiveCD didn't work originally, and on your lest test it does work indicates there may be some hardware instability. It concerns me that the your are seeing 30 second and 20 second delays during ATA configuration. Does this always happen? Does it occur when booting on the LiveCD?
