It still exists on alpha4. It's also only when you work from the live cd. If 
you install Hardy on a separate partition and run from there the NTFS drives 
are properly mounted (missing drivers for ntfs or so on the live cd?).

It would be nice to be able to mount NTFS partitions from the live cd,
most of the people using the live cd for the first time would be Windows
users and even my first reaction was to go the windows drive (as it's an
icon) to try to open some word documents with open office. USB sticks do
work from the live cd.
