I have the same problem. I use a macbook core duo first generation. The kernel 2.6.24-8.14 uses a lot of power, powertop shows " <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts " doing ~300/500 wakeups on idle. When not idle it goes up to 6000 - 10000 wakeups
