Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vpnc

I'm using Hardy Heron, fresh Alpha 5 install with all updates.
Before I reinstalled my OS, my VPN connection was fine. As wel as with the
command-line of vpnc as with the network manager vpnc plugin, I could activate
my vpn perfectly

However, since the reinstall, I do seem to get a permission refusal when
trying to connect to the vpn.

When using vpnc to connect to a VPN network, I get the error:
Failed to bind to 0.0.0.0:500: Permission denied

Same with network-manager-vpnc:
Mar 6 16:39:49 tim-desktop NetworkManager: <WARN>

org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.vpnc): could not stop connection 'My VPN'

Last comment in another vpnc bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vpnc/+bug/179239, which is a
different bug) seems the same to me.

Some details:

Another remark: after installing vpnc, i HAD to chmod /etc/vpnc/ to 755,
as it was not readable by default, so the client just exited!

When stracing vpnc, i see the following error: default config not found
   open("/etc/vpnc/default.conf", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
   open("/etc/vpnc/default.conf.conf", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
