This I can still confirm even on hardy alpha-5. But it depends on your
hardware configuration, my previous computer was "brandless" and on
there ubuntu stops properly. My current one is a Dell AMD64 (with 32 bit
ubuntu installed). If I press the shut down button I will see the
(k)ubuntu logo, with a decreasing bar below it. When the bar is
completely drained nothing happens and the logo remains on screen.
