It does not appear by default, as I originally though. However, I have figured out how to replicate it, and it works in any view.
-(5)/4 That will give you -1625, and afterward all answers with decimals will be wrong. With this knowledge it is now obvious that it is not caused by a font's lack of a full stop. Multiple instances of gcalctool do not interfere with each other, so it is possible to have one calculator that is malfunctioning while another works as expected.
