I figured out the issues in the original patch.  Fix outlined on the
geode mailing list:

Here is my test .deb for hardy:

With this driver running on my Linutop connected to an ACER x243w (24")
I can get resolutions of 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1440x900.  None of these
worked before the patch.

Please report if it worked/didn't work for you.  It would be interesting
to get your hardware configuration also, including monitor.
