I am also using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and I can confirm that the bug is STILL there in Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy).
"Line in 2" is "Line 2" in alsamixer, but "Line In 1" seems to redirect to nothing. The volume is correct from "Line in 1" or "Line in 2" (though the Line in 1 is mono, don't know if it's normal).
