Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg
after the recent set of updates on 2-28 the shift key and caps lock key
have stopped functioning normally.

the shift key no longer works with any alphanumeric characters. the
shift key does work with keyboard shortcuts and for cutting and pasting
in the terminal.

the caps lock key works only for 'letter' keys. it does not work for any
special character.

if i open a virtual terminal or kill x the shift key and caps lock keys
work normally.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xorg-xserver did not fix this problem. nor did
modifying settings in system - preference - keyboard layout.

i am running updated hardy alpha5.
