I can confirm this in Ubuntu 7.10 with Gnome. When I explore an SMB or SSH share, I can open text files with gedit, and my ability to move files is vastly improved since Feisty; however, it seems I still can't directly open files in OpenOffice. This seems to be the case regardless of the filetype.
While manually dragging files to the local desktop and opening is a quick and relatively intuitive workaround, the ability to open remote documents would increase Ubuntu's overall robustness and feasibility as a complete Windows replacement system (as if Ubuntu's feasibility were in question!) and, as Divan pointed out, would this really be that difficult of a fix to make? -- openoffice opening files over network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162371 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
