First, of course I was wrong, Hardy has a different version of NM, I
pointed to the openvpn component. http://packages.ubuntu.com/network-
manager

Looks like NM has this fix upstream
(http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/NetworkManager/trunk/src/named-manager/nm-
named-manager.c?r1=3154&r2=3212&view=patch)  to fix the upstream bug:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346833

Doesn't look like Hardy has the fix :(
