Public bug reported: After updating Hardy Heron Alpha 5 I found that the Linux restricted hardware drivers were suddenly no longer available. Somehow, these drivers were automatically uninstalled.
Solution: Reboot, press Escape when the Ubuntu menu appears, then select the "generic" kernel (instead of the "386" kernel) and continue. Once you're in Ubuntu, load the Synaptic Packet Manager and install the "linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-8-386". After installation, reboot normally and you'll find the restricted drivers available, again, once you're back in Ubuntu. Cheers. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- after update ubuntu 8.04 (02-25-'08) linux restricted drivers unavailable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
