Public bug reported:

Registering a new mirror per the instructions at:

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/mirror/3

and selecting the option "Apply to be an official mirror of this
distribution" does not result in verification of the new mirror.

The link above says: "Verification of newly submitted mirrors can take
up to 48 hours before being published as official mirrors", but this is
not happening. One can see that multiple people have had the problem by
emails sent to the ubuntu-mirrors list:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-
mirrors/2008-February/thread.html

The result of this is less mirrors for Ubuntu and/or wasted time of
people offering their mirror services.

Expected result: Either the mirroring info pages on the website should
be updated with more accurate information/instructions, possibly saying
that no more mirrors are needed if that is the case, or people applying
for their mirrors to be official mirrors should be regularly updated
with the status of the application, including any reason that the
application has failed or is being delayed.

Thank you!
