Regarding this bug (tracker applet there when trackerd is entirely disabled), we don't need it to get check for X events, since there's no need to pause trackerd, as it's disabled. So in this special case, it makes sense to disable tracker-applet too.
For other cases (a user who uses t-s-t or deskbar-applet or whatever and doesn't want/like tracker-applet) there could be an option in tracker- preferences to just "hide" it from the systray, while still running in the background to get X events. BTW, it's possible right now to disable tracker-applet from System>Preferences>Sessions. Not easily discoverable for a newbie though. -- tray icon appears even when tracker is disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177398 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
