sleipner : Yes, I've clearly seen this bug with my own laptop. It is bug 61711. However, since this bug generally caused by a bad /etc/usplash.conf from fresh gutsy installation and that your /etc/usplash.conf seems to contains the correct values ( xres=1024 yres=768 ), I suggest that you look at the resolution of your screen (as shown in System / Administration / Screens and Graphics) and at the content of your /etc/usplash.conf file (cat /etc/usplash.conf). If the content of the /etc/usplash.conf file is not the same as the resolution of your screen when running X, modify /etc/usplash.conf to have the same resolution, save it and run : sudo update-initramfs -u . If usplash still does not show, I suggest that you subscribe to bug 61711 and that you provide the following informations :
1. The output of this command on a terminal : uname -a 2. The actual resolution of your screen (as shown in System / Administration / Screens and Graphics)? 3. The content of your /etc/usplash.conf file. ( cat usplash.conf ) 4. The file created by this command on a terminal : sudo ddcprobe > ddcprobe.txt 5. The file created by this command on a terminal : lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt Thanks for your participation to the improvement of ubuntu. -- GRUB does not start with "splash" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/76182 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
