There is a bug in the fix :) I referred to.
LD_PRELOAD=libaoss.so exec /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx-real $@
should be replaced by :
LD_PRELOAD=libaoss.so exec /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx-real "$@"
