Yes, we know this has been said a number of times, but I am just saying
that- perhaps! - the "fix" in place doesn't actually work on everyone's
controller. :-)

Joel Ebel, Andcor, godot and myself have all tried the fix, and we all
get the same error message, which is a different result prior to the
fix. If anyone can suggest to all of us which BIOS option(s) may also
be needed to make Linux work with JMicron -connected PATA drives, that
would be helpful- because I've tried every one that looks like it might
work (again, MSI P965 Neo).

As I noted, I know this isn't related to the ICH8 issue, which I don't
even have any drives plugged into (or for that matter, even tried
without any SATA drives plugged in at all). The JMicron controller on
this MB does have a single SATA port.

Perhaps the fix is incomplete, or maybe this is a third issue?

If it helps any, Windows XP Pro (64-bit) installed without a blip, and
even my ancient original Windows XP CD worked.

Sorry for being "persitant", but I just want to make sure everyone
understands that not everyone is fixed. :-/
