Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amule

Hello MOTU Release team,

I hereby request an exception to upload a recent aMule 2.2.0 svn
snapshot. We have 2.1.3 in the archive, but the 2.1.x branch is dead
upstream. They have stated that there won't be a 2.1.4 release, and that
all the bugfixing will only occur in the 2.2 branch. The 2.1.3 release
has plenty of crashes (you can see the bugs reported as of today) and
some (most?) of them are fixed in 2.2.0 snapshots.

I'm a bug contact of the amule package and I'll keep track of its state
and will follow upstream snapshots to backport fixes / update the
package (requesting a new exception if appropriate).

I have the package ready for upload. Below you can find the
debian/changelog entry.

Thanks for your consideration.

amule (2.2.0~svn20080214-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * The "I missed FeatureFreeze for a few hours!" update.

  * New svn checkout, from 20080214 tarball, renamed debian/ to
    debian-upstream/. LP: #
    The 2.1.x branch is dead upstream and has some crashers, and
    upstream recommends the 2.2.0 branch.
    LP: #40238, #112745, #65496, #123695.

  * debian/patches/cas_configfile.c_good_default_paths.diff:
    - Updated for the new release.
  * debian/patches/wx-2.8.diff,
    debian/patches/configure_proper_libpng_detection.diff,
    debian/patches/for_upstream-manpage_typos.diff
    - Removed, fixed upstream.
  * debian/patches/nodes-url.diff:
    - Removed, as upstream uses now a different server list.
  * debian/patches/series:
    - Updated accordingly.
  * debian/control:
    - Require libcrypto++-dev >= 5.5.2-1, as aMule now checks for crypopp
      instead of crypto++, and 5.5.2-1 added the necessary symlinks.
      Otherwise aMule FTBFS.
  * debian/mans/amulegui.1:
    - Removed, as it's shipped upstream now.
  * debian/amule-utils-gui.manpages:
    - Ship amulegui.*1 manpages from upstream, and stop shipping
      debian/mans/amulegui.1
  * debian/rules:
    - Pass --with-language=all to configure so that all locales are
      installed, as now they won't be installed by default.
