I can also confirm that on my Samsung !45 with Intel X3100 graphics adding 
INTEL_BATCH="1" to /etc/environment and putting the following into my xorg.conf:
        Option          "AccelMethod"           "EXA"
        Option          "ExaNoComposite"        "false"
        Option          "MigrationHeuristic"    "greedy"

solved my problems with X!

Scrolling firefox is fast as in gutsy, compiz works, no window shadow
corruption and videos work as well.

Maybe this should be considered instead of just reverting to XAA.
