Sorry, I just realized that I didn't follow the instructions again. I really shouldn't do this immediately after waking up.
I am using a POP account, and I am using Evolution 2.8.0 All I have to do to cause the hang is to open it up, and then close it. /tmp/camel.out does not contain any information that the gdb log doesn't include.
