Public bug reported: I have an Asus Eee with an Attansic L2 100mbit ethernet adapter. In gutsy and hardy <=2.6.24-4 the driver was supplied (automatically) by the atl2 module without any problems.
As of 2.6.24-5-generic (and I'm up to -7-generic right now with all other updates), the module atl2 no longer loads correctly. I tried installing atl2-source and compiling the module by hand, but it failed: :/usr/src/modules/atl2# make make -C /lib/modules/2.6.24-7-generic/build SUBDIRS=/usr/src/modules/atl2 modules make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.24-7-generic' CC [M] /usr/src/modules/atl2/atl2_main.o /usr/src/modules/atl2/atl2_main.c: In function ‘atl2_probe’: /usr/src/modules/atl2/atl2_main.c:1451: error: implicit declaration of function ‘SET_MODULE_OWNER’ make[2]: *** [/usr/src/modules/atl2/atl2_main.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/atl2] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.24-7-generic' make: *** [all] Error 2 I suspect this is related to the module atl2 not being included in the recent kernel packages. atl1 is included but not atl2: :/lib/modules/2.6.24-7-generic/kernel/drivers/net# modprobe atl2 FATAL: Module atl2 not found. I'll be more than happy to provide additional information until the problem is solved. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hardy does not have atl2 >= 2.6.24-5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/190597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
