Public bug reported:

Yesterday I accepted the updates for my Gutsy box. They were to upgrade
my KDE4 installation to KDE 4.0.1.

After completing the update, most of the application icons in the
kickoff menu do nothing when clicked. For example, if I click on
"Konsole" it will never appear.

The kickoff menu has the KDE4 applications listed with "-kde4" at the
end of the command. For example, running the command "konsole-kde4" does
nothing, now, you just need to type konsole without the -kde4 suffix.
All of the KDE4 icons are like this and don't work. (I did verify that I
had all the programs installed, and that the command pulled up the KDE4
version and not the KDE3 version).

To fix this either the menu needs to reflect the lack of suffix, or the
application commands will need to be updated.

This is major, due to this bug, some people cannot access KDE4 programs
at all, unless you manually go in and correct all the commands using
kmenuedit.
