Thanks for your bug report. This kind of patterns if often a sign that
the computer try to use the graphic card with a too big resolution. In
your case, it has been caused by ubiquity in ubuntu Gutsy which install
wrong values in /etc/usplash.conf. Since this problem is already
reported as bug 150930, I'll set this bug as a duplicate. If you can
still reproduce that issue with future ubuntu release, specially ubuntu
Hardy which will come for April, I invite you to about this on this bug
report. Thanks for the time you took to post this bug report, feel free
to report any other bugs you might find!
