Public bug reported:
During a distribution upgrade (from gutsy to hardy in this case) the network-manager is updated and restarted during the update process. This did not manage to restore my internet connection properly (I have to connect to a VPN to gain Internet access). The update just silently stopped at some point. When I pressed Escape the update-manager told me that "a problem occurred during cleanup" - "Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/giflib/libgif4_4.1.4-2_amd64.deb Could not resolve 'archive.ubuntu.com'". Therefore, to fix this problem, the network-manager should not be restarted during the upgrade process before all files have been downloaded. (I mean it's probably already intended that way - why does it try to download a file during cleanup?). ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- upgrade hangs - network-manager should not be updated / restarted during a distribution update before all files have been downloaded https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
