Lenovo X61

Ubuntu version:-
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu

DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 7.10"

Graphics card:-
The 'Graphics Card' tab in the Administration->Screen and Graphics dialog has
two entries. The first one under 'Graphics card (VESA driver (generic))' says
'intel - Experimental modesetting driver for I...' and the second one also
under 'Graphics card (VESA driver (generic))' says 'vesa - Generic
VESA-compliant video cards'.

Error messages:-
I ran compiz and this is the error message I got.

$ sudo compiz
Checking for Xgl: not present.
Blacklisted PCIID '8086:2a02' found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

Within the System->Preferences->Appearance dialog, when I click the radio
button for 'Normal' effects, a pop up box comes up with the error message
'desktop effects could not be enabled'. Currently I have no effects enabled at
all.
