Theres a workaround mentioned, setting: export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 before starting Firefox makes Flash work for me :-) Maybe this variable can be set as a default in the Ubuntu firefox startscript (/usr/lib/firefox) so other users dont have to cope with this...
