Editing the launchers is helpful, but does not address the original
request.

I know several work-arounds, and yes Adept is not the default for Xcfe.
However, it should work even for beginners if they should choose to (or
happen to) install it.

For example, in teaching it is very useful to be able to explain package
managers by having students switch back and forth between two.  The
effect is lost, especially on beginners, if the is a 30minute session
before hand to make the arrangements necessary to run second package
manager.

Or for example, when writing guides for site-wide deployment, it would
be useful to be able to choose the non-default tools so as to be able to
harmonize between desktops.  Staff and students may not have exactly the
same preference (or system requirements) for desktop environments, but
if the same applications are available, then one set of guides can be
published for the whole group.
