Public bug reported: mairix 0.24-2build1 (no-change rebuild) has been stuck in stonking- proposed for ~319 days; it fails to build on every architecture:
Generating Makefile sed: -e expression #1, char 777: unknown option to `s' Build log (amd64): https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mairix/0.24-2build1/+build/32793505 Cause: mairix's hand-written configure generates the Makefile with sed -e "s%@cc@%${MYCC}%; ... s%@LDFLAGS@%${MYLDFLAGS}%; ..." < Makefile.in > Makefile using '%' as the sed delimiter. Ubuntu's default LDFLAGS contain -Wl,-- package-metadata=%7B%22type%22:%22deb%22... (URL-encoded JSON, full of '%'), which breaks the s%...% expression. Debian doesn't add --package- metadata, so it builds there (0.24-2 in testing). Not related to mairix itself; the same flag has broken other packages using sed/% (or ':' e.g. clustalx) to substitute build flags. Debian: no bug about this (Ubuntu-only). Upstream mairix is essentially dormant (0.24 from 2017). Suggested direction (to be done by whoever picks this up): - Patch configure to use a delimiter that can't appear in the flags (e.g. '|' or a control character like \001), or escape the variables before substitution. Check all the s%...% lines, not just LDFLAGS (CFLAGS/CPPFLAGS could also contain '%' in theory). - Test-build in stonking, upload as an Ubuntu delta, and forward to Debian (it's harmless there and makes the build robust). ** Affects: mairix (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Benjamin Drung (bdrung) Status: New ** Tags: ftbfs update-excuse ** Tags added: update-excuse ** Tags added: ftbfs ** Changed in: mairix (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Benjamin Drung (bdrung) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2170632 Title: mairix FTBFS in stonking: configure sed breaks on '%' in --package- metadata LDFLAGS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mairix/+bug/2170632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
