Public bug reported: When a process invoked in KDE attempts to perform an operation requiring elevated privileges, an "Authorization Required" dialog appears. When a valid password for the requested account is entered, an "Authorization failure" message is returned. This is a known problem for which a solution has been implemented, see https://github.com/polkit-org/polkit/commit/3d07db95a4734ca15f760468123207c8cc4a6827. However, the solution is not yet included in any polkit release. I encountered the problem in Ubuntu Studio 26.04.1 LTS, (see https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/problems-with-upgrade-from-ubuntu-studio-24-04-lts-to-26-04-lts/88853/) but it is by no means limited to this platform.
