Update after about 12 days on the fixed package. On 2026-09-24 I installed linux-firmware-amd-graphics 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.3. Installing it required moving the linux-firmware metapackage from 0ubuntu2.26 to 0ubuntu3.1, because the split package Breaks the older monolithic one.
Result on Strix Point (Ryzen AI 9 365, Radeon 890M, gfx1150, DCN 3.5): amdgpu: [drm] Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x09003F00 amdgpu: [drm] DMUB hardware initialized: version=0x09003F00 Checksums of the decompressed dcn_3_5_dmcub.bin: 0ubuntu2.26 (0x09002C01, worked on my machine): ce5dc8ef543ce71a0ef772d4d821872fbfaa48afd0634e00f814e04ed991c431 0ubuntu3.2 (0x09000D00, still broken, from comment #6): 3849f6e2dd33c24977254f486710be9ee8f51fb5dad4b442444e119ced0c55d5 0ubuntu3.3 (0x09003F00): c8bf300cd56bad46934090279f1eb483cef450d5a5a6806a2edcf7d9eafe0f1f Observation: since 2026-09-24 (about twelve days, on 6.17.0-1032-oem and then -1033-oem) none of the original symptoms has come back: no SDMA0 fence timeout, no soft lockup in the dmub_srv_wait_for_idle / dmub_abm_set_pipe path, no Oops. The original failure showed up within a few hours. For completeness: on 2026-10-06 the kernel logged a single "BUG: Bad page state" report (not an Oops) while a Firefox IO thread was calling rename() on ext4 (ext4_evict_inode -> truncate_inode_pages_final -> free_unref_folios). There are no amdgpu or TTM frames in the trace, so I cannot tell whether it is related; I mention it only to avoid overstating.. One caveat: since my original report I moved from a Chromium-based browser to Firefox, so my daily GPU workload is not the same as when the regression first hit. It is a good sign, but not an exact reproduction of the original conditions.
