The issue still occurs on 6 October 2026, on Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, also in Brave 154.1.96.59 (installed as /usr/bin/brave-browser, neither Snap nor Flatpak). The current desktop session is X11.
In the Save dialog, opening Other Locations → dxp6800pro-723e.local → 20tb produces “Could not read the contents of 20tb — Not a directory”. Opening the share in Nautilus first makes it accessible from the Save dialog’s sidebar, and saving then works. This workaround has been used repeatedly; it does not resolve the initial connection problem. Saving using the full local GVFS path also succeeds: /run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=dxp6800pro-723e.local,share=20tb/2052760562.pdf Both navigation routes in Nautilus show the same URI: smb://dxp6800pro-723e.local/20tb/ Could you investigate why the file chooser fails to open the share until Nautilus has accessed it, and advise which diagnostic logs would help? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2167726 Title: SMB share opens as "Not a directory" in GTK file chooser To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/2167726/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
