Public bug reported: swift-tools 0.0.24build1 fails to build from source in stonking.
Regressing architectures (built before, fail now): amd64 (arch:all package; the failure is version-string driven, not architecture specific). Diagnosis (deterministic matcher): configure-error — dh_auto_configure: error: pybuild --configure -i python{version} -p 3.14 --parallel=8 returned exit code 13. Root cause: packaging.version.InvalidVersion: Invalid version: '0.0.24build1' E: pybuild pybuild:485: configure: plugin distutils failed with: exit code=1: python3.14 setup.py config swift-tools is a Debian-native package. openstack-pkg-tools' pkgos.make derives PBR_VERSION ?= $(shell dpkg-parsechangelog -SVersion | sed -e 's/^[[:digit:]]*://' -e 's/[-].*//' ...) which only strips a Debian revision after '-'. For the native no-change-rebuild version 0.0.24build1 there is no '-', so 'build1' is passed verbatim to pbr, which is not PEP 440 compliant. Debian (0.0.24) is unaffected. Suggested fix: Override PBR_VERSION (and OSLO_PACKAGE_VERSION) in debian/rules to strip Ubuntu suffixes, e.g. export PBR_VERSION=$(shell dpkg-parsechangelog -SVersion | sed -e 's/^[[:digit:]]*://' -e 's/[-].*//' -e 's/build[0-9]*$$//' -e 's/ubuntu.*$$//') upload as 0.0.24ubuntu1 and forward to Debian. More generally, pkgos.make in openstack-pkg-tools could strip 'build[0-9]+' / 'ubuntu*' suffixes for native packages, fixing all affected OpenStack native packages at once.
