Public bug reported:

Summary:

After upgrading to kernel version 7.0 on Ubuntu 24.04, the integrated
Intel Wi-Fi card fails to establish a connection to any wireless
network. It enters an infinite loop of scanning and disconnecting. This
is a regression, as the wireless card connects instantly and works
flawlessly under kernel version 6.18.

Hardware & Subsystem Information:
Network Controller: Intel Corporation Comet Lake PCH-LP CNVi WiFi
  Interface: wlp0s20f3
  Driver module: iwlwifi

Observed Behaviour:
NetworkManager repeatedly fails the authentication phase.

The system logs show a driver-level handshake timeout:
wpa_supplicant: SME: Authentication request to the driver failed
NetworkManager: Activation: (wifi) association took too long, failing activation
NetworkManager: device state change: config -> failed (reason 'ssid-not-found')

Please check the attached journal.log

Current Workaround:
Putting the laptop into suspend (sleep mode) and waking it up makes the card
connect until the next clean boot.
