This is now fixed upstream, which postdates this report. Upstream commit 6218b74436cc6f9fcde6d9431408a6cff4b5507f, "goodixmoc: Add support for Goodix 27c6:6382 (Dell XPS 13 9315)", landed 2026-07-08 and is in tag v1.94.100 and on master:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libfprint/libfprint/-/commit/6218b74436cc6f9fcde6d9431408a6cff4b5507f It is two lines -- the id_table entry, plus a case label in gx_fp_probe() so the device gets its correct 12-sample enrollment count instead of falling through to DEFAULT_ENROLL_SAMPLES (8). No binary patching and no disabling of TOD drivers is needed; a rebuild with the commit applied is sufficient. Confirming on a second machine and a different Ubuntu series sys_vendor: Dell Inc. product_name: XPS 13 9315 2-in-1 product_sku: 0B34 board_name: 06RMTY bios_version: 1.29.0 (03/31/2026) OS: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS (resolute) kernel: 7.0.0-34-generic libfprint: 1:1.95.1+tod1-0ubuntu2 device: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 27c6:6382 Goodix USB2.0 MISC iSerial: UIDAC1BD885_XXXX_MOC_B0 Note this is the XPS 13 9315 2-in-1, not the clamshell XPS 13 9315 in the original report. Dell reuses the 9315 model number for both chassis, so the model name alone does not identify the machine -- hence the DMI fields. The same PID and the same MOC protocol are therefore confirmed on at least two distinct models, on two different Ubuntu bases (24.04 and 26.04). The clamshell is Canonical-certified hardware: https://ubuntu.com/certified/202203-30070 (Core i5-1240U) https://ubuntu.com/certified/202203-30061 (Core i7-1260U) (listed as "XPS 9315"; Dell and upstream call it "XPS 13 9315"). If the certified model carries this same reader, a certified laptop ships a fingerprint sensor that does not work on 26.04 LTS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2150602 Title: Support Goodix fingerprint [27c6:6382] - Dell XPS 13 9315 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libfprint/+bug/2150602/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
