Hi Benjamin: I installed and tried the linux-generic-hwe-24.04 kernel (w/ kernel 7.0.0-31-generic). I can confirm that hibernation resumes. In addition, another problem I had with 6.8.0-139, bluetooth not working, also appears to be fixed in HWE.
A problem I was having more than a year ago did resurface in HWE. I get an endless repetition of messages like "ACPI Error: Aborting method \_GPE.PL6E due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND)" in my syslog and elsewhere. Eventually, if allowed to run, syslog, journal and I believe kern.log fill up enough to cause my / directory to run out of space (it has 32GB of space normally). The problem occasionally occurred after hibernation, wake, sleep, wake. I had previously added this to my command line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="... \"acpi_osi=Windows 2022\" ..." I guess that cleared up the issue because I haven't had the problem for more than a year. Then after installing 6.8.0-139 and switching back to 6.8.0-138, it started appearing again occasionally. In HWE, it appeared the first time I ran the hibernation, wake, sleep, wake sequence. I've now added acpi_mask_gpe=0x6E to my grub cmdline and the problem hasn't resurfaced and so far none of my peripherals have had an issue. I'm guessing this is more of a BIOS issue than a kernel issue.
