Same symptom here on a different AMD machine, with a large sample of successful and failed suspends from the journal.
**Hardware:** Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 (21M6000EAC), AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (Rembrandt-R), Radeon 680M iGPU (amdgpu), Realtek RTL8852BE Wi-Fi (rtw89_8852be), Realtek RTL8111 Ethernet (r8169), Samsung PM9C1a NVMe. BIOS R2KET33W 1.16, which is the latest offered by fwupd/LVFS. The firmware only supports S0/S4/S5, so `/sys/power/mem_sleep` is `[s2idle]`. **OS:** Linux Mint 22.2 (Ubuntu 24.04 noble base) running Ubuntu's unmodified `linux-hwe-7.0` kernel packages. Default systemd sleep/logind settings, no custom kernel parameters at the time of the hangs (`quiet splash` only). **Symptom:** intermittently, about 1 in 6 suspends, the system freezes while *entering* s2idle. The power LED stays solid instead of blinking, the screen is off, and there is no reaction to keyboard, lid or the power button. The only way out is holding the power button to force a power-off. In every such case the journal of that boot ends at `PM: suspend entry (s2idle)` with nothing logged afterwards (see 03 and 04). Suspend/resume cycles earlier in the same boot worked normally. `/sys/fs/pstore` (efi_pstore) stays empty, so it looks like a hang rather than a panic. **Statistics from the journal (retained since 2026-01-19), see 02-suspend-history-per-boot.txt:** - Kernels 6.14.0-37 and 6.17.0-14/19/20/35, Feb 6 to Jul 25 2026: **271 suspends, 0 hangs**. - Kernel 7.0.0-28-generic, from its first boot on Jul 28 2026 to Sep 21: **78 suspends, 13 hangs**. 13 of the 17 boots on this kernel ended in a suspend hang. - Kernel 7.0.0-31-generic: booted for the first time on Sep 21, not tested yet. The external HDMI monitor was connected during both successful and failed suspends, so it does not seem to be the trigger. No rtw89, r8169, xhci or nvme errors precede the hang. **Possibly related:** on every boot with 7.0.0-28 and the HDMI monitor attached, amdgpu logs a WARNING at `dcn31_program_compbuf_size` (`REG_WAIT timeout 1us * 100 tries`). Full trace in 06-amdgpu-warning- trace.txt. I do not know whether it is connected to the hang. **Workaround:** pinning GRUB to 6.17.0-35-generic, which never hung here.
