Hi Erich, Thank you for your response. However, I must respectfully disagree with marking this as "Incomplete." I understand the Ubuntu team's limitations regarding proprietary Nvidia firmware, but I believe this is a legitimate, reproducible packaging/systemd integration bug rather than an ACPI or user-specific issue.
My setup is dGPU-only (nvidia-driver-595-open, 595.71.05). The backlight device is nvidia_0, handled by the Nvidia driver, not ACPI. The journal shows a clear ordering cycle between systemd- backlight@nvidia_0.service and nvidia-persistenced.service. systemd breaks the cycle by deleting one job, so brightness is never restored after reboot. This is deterministic, reproducible, and specific to dGPU- only systems using the open driver. This is a systemd unit dependency problem in your package. You can fix the After=/Before= ordering without touching Nvidia's firmware. Please don't close this as Incomplete. Attached: full journal output showing the ordering cycle.
