Impact
A release upgrade disables third-party sources by design and shows a one-line
notice mid-upgrade. After reboot nothing mentions it again: Software Updater
says the system is up to date, apt list --upgradable is empty, unattended-
upgrades is happy. Meanwhile the browser, password manager, messenger and VPN
client stop receiving security updates.
This is not specific to one bug. #2110032 (arch=), #2086506 (deletion)
and #2167655 (signed-by) bugs all end the same way, and the next migration bug
will eventually too. Disabling an update source is a security-relevant action;
the system should keep saying so until someone acts on it.
Request
Software Updater should warn when installed packages have no enabled source.
apt already knows this: apt list --installed marks them [installed,local].
Show "N packages have no update source" next to "updates available", with a
link to Software & Updates > Other Software, and keep showing it until the
count drops. This catches every cause, past and future, with no policy change.
Nice to have: the upgrader already knows which sources it disabled; write that
list somewhere Software & Updates can show on first login after the upgrade,
instead of only in a dialog dismissed during a multi-hour process.
