Public bug reported:
After upgrading bubblewrap from 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.1 to 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.2 on
Linux Mint 22.3 (Ubuntu Noble base), applications stopped launching from
both the Cinnamon application menu and panel/taskbar icons.
Expected behaviour:
Applications should launch normally when their icons are clicked.
Actual behaviour:
After installing bubblewrap 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.2, clicking application icons in the
Cinnamon menu or panel did nothing.
Steps to reproduce:
1. System was working normally with bubblewrap 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.1.
2. Update bubblewrap to 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.2.
3. Try launching applications from the Cinnamon menu or panel.
4. Applications fail to launch.
5. Downgrade bubblewrap back to 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.1.
6. Applications immediately launch normally again.
I initially installed several available updates together and experienced
the problem. I restored the system using Timeshift.
I then tested the updates individually. Updating gstreamer1.0-plugins-
good from 1.24.2-1ubuntu1.5 to 1.24.2-1ubuntu1.6 did not cause the
problem.
I then upgraded only bubblewrap from 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.1 to
0.9.0-1ubuntu0.2 and the problem immediately returned.
Downgrading only bubblewrap back to 0.9.0-1ubuntu0.1 immediately
restored normal application launching.
The issue is therefore reproducible on this system.
