Public bug reported:
After upgrading bubblewrap from 0.11.1-1ubuntu0.1 to 0.11.1-1ubuntu0.2, all
tested Flatpak applications fail to start.
Examples include Google Chrome, Discord and Steam.
Google Chrome fails with:
bwrap: Can't resolve /var/run/cups/cups.sock: Too many levels of symbolic links
Discord fails with:
bwrap: Can't bind mount /oldroot/run/user/1000/app/com.discordapp.Discord on
/newroot/run/user/flatpak/app/com.discordapp.Discord: Unable to mount source on
destination: No such file or directory
The relevant paths on the host appear normal. In particular:
/var/run -> /run
/run/cups/cups.sock exists, and /run/user/1000/app/com.discordapp.Discord also
exists.
The issue is reproducible with bubblewrap 0.11.1-1ubuntu0.2.
Downgrading only bubblewrap to 0.11.1-1ubuntu0.1 immediately restores normal
operation of all tested Flatpak applications, without changing or reinstalling
Flatpak or any Flatpak applications.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install/upgrade to bubblewrap 0.11.1-1ubuntu0.2.
2. Run a Flatpak application, for example:flatpak run com.google.Chrome
3. The application fails during bwrap sandbox setup.
4. Downgrade:sudo apt install bubblewrap=0.11.1-1ubuntu0.1
5. Run the same Flatpak application again.
6. It starts normally.
