Public bug reported: BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2167552
[ Impact ] This is a patch series as part of the effort to enable Zen 6 client platform support on Ubuntu Stonking kernel. On Medusa the ASP fTPM has been adjusted to more strictly follow the TPM CRB protocol. This uncovered some bugs in the Linux kernel handling that violate the state machine. Specifically, when booting, systemd service may get stuck for ~1.5 minutes, showing "dev-tpmrm0.device/start running (X / 1min 30s)" [ Fix ] This is fixed by this commit: 1. [PATCH v3] tpm: Call cmd_ready/go_idle for each command transmission [1] [ Test plan ] Install the kernel and boot. The system shouldn't wait at the said systemd service above. [ Where problems could occur ] It will affect any OEM design that chooses not to use a dTPM.
