Public bug reported:

Environment:

Ubuntu: 26.04.1 LTS
GNOME Shell: 50.1
Mutter candidate: 50.1-0ubuntu2.2
Session: Wayland
Monitor count: 4
Primary monitor: monitor 1

Problem description:

I use Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS with GNOME Shell 50.1 in a Wayland session and
four monitors configured as an extended desktop.

When I move a window between monitors using keyboard window-management
shortcuts, the window initially appears on the selected monitor.
However, after I click elsewhere and the window loses focus, it may move
to a different monitor.

Observed behavior:

| Initial monitor | Requested destination | Destination after clicking
elsewhere |
| ------------------ | --------------------- |
------------------------------------ |
| Monitor 1 | Monitor 2 | Monitor 2
    |
| Monitor 1 | Monitor 3 | Monitor 2
    |
| Monitor 1 | Monitor 4 | Monitor 2
    |
| Monitor 2, 3, or 4 | Monitor 1 | Monitor 1; works correctly
    |
| Monitor 2 | Monitor 3 | Monitor 4
    |
| Monitor 2 | Monitor 4 | Monitor 2
    |

The window appears to be moved correctly immediately after using the
keyboard shortcut. It jumps only after clicking another window or an
empty area of the desktop.

Expected behavior:

A window moved to a monitor should remain on that monitor after losing
focus.

Actual behavior:

After losing focus, the window is repositioned on another monitor. The
destination appears to depend on the source and target monitors.

Workaround:

The issue can be avoided by resizing the window after moving it, also
via keyboard shortcut.

- Move the window to the desired monitor with the keyboard shortcut.
- Resize it to half-screen size.
- Resize it back to full size.
- Click elsewhere.

After this resize operation, the window remains on the selected monitor.

Additional observations:

The problem occurs only with keyboard-based window movement; if the
window is moved via mouse it always sticks to the selected monitor.
