Public bug reported:

Hello!

I've recently ran into a bug of socat that has been fixed in newer
versions. The `cread` option in conjunction with low level settings:

```
cbuec@W11nMate:~/RIOTstuff/riot-vanillaice/RIOT$ socat -
open:/dev/ttyACM0,ispeed=115200,ospeed=115200,nonblock,clocal=1,cread=1,echo=0,raw,cs8,parenb=0,cstopb=0
2026/08/26 08:35:55 socat[446352] E cfsetispeed(0x55a059dd25c0, 115200):
Invalid argument
```

This has been fixed in version 1.7.4.4, although there is at least one
regression introduced in 1.7.4.4, so it might be a good idea to instead
use one of the versions from more recent Ubuntu versions.

I know that Ubuntu 22.04 LTS only has less than one year of service life
left, but it is still used a lot and also (still) the base of the Docker
container shipped with RIOT OS (which is how I stumbled upon this bug).

Thank you for looking into this!

Best Regards,
Chris
