Yes it made it into Hardy in late October or so.

Try modifying the session script that sits in /usr/share/mythtv instead, and 
put your sleep between the gnome-screensaver call there.  If that doesn't work, 
I suspect its because gnome-screensaver is getting started in a way that it 
can't speak dbus.

Also, the new libmyth (as of today ) should fix that other issue you
were having.
