Public bug reported:

gdcm 3.0.24-13 fails to build in stonking-proposed on all arches (build
33513934, 2026-08-18). Failure is in the Python wrapper:

  Wrapping/Python/CMakeFiles/gdcmswig.dir/gdcmswigPYTHON_wrap.cxx:
error: 'PyString_AsString' was not declared in this scope
error: 'PyString_Size' was not declared in this scope
error: 'PyInt_FromLong' was not declared in this scope

SWIG 4.5.0 removed the Python 2 compatibility macros that pyhead used to
define for Python 3 targets (swig commit b89050101d, "Python: Avoid
compatibility macros"). gdcm's Wrapping/Python/gdcmswig used them.

Inn Debian: 3.0.24-13+b1 built 2026-08-11 against swig 4.4.1-2; swig
4.5.0-1 entered unstable 2026-08-12, so any rebuild will fail the same
way.

This blocks the vtk9 transition (level-2 rebuild) and everything behind
gdcm.
