This issue, or a closely related NVIDIA power-management regression, is still
reproducible after the reported fix.
Hardware:
- Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10
- Intel UHD Graphics: 8086:468b
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU (Blackwell): 10de:2dd8
Software:
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute)
- Kernel: 7.0.0-29-generic (Ubuntu 7.0.0-29.29, upstream 7.0.12)
- nvidia-driver-595-open: 595.84-0ubuntu0.26.04.1
- NVIDIA Open Kernel Module 595.84
- PRIME mode: on-demand
- GNOME/Wayland
- /sys/power/mem_sleep: s2idle [deep]
Symptoms:
The laptop intermittently becomes stuck on a black screen after suspend/lid
close. A similar black-screen freeze can also occur when the AC charger is
unplugged. A hard power-off is normally required.
The kernel journal shows repeated NVIDIA runtime power transitions:
nvidia 0000:01:00.0: Enabling HDA controller
One failed session recorded a KMS thread blocked for more than 122 seconds
inside nvidia_modeset:
INFO: task KMS thread blocked for more than 122 seconds
nvkms_ioctl_from_kapi_try_pmlock [nvidia_modeset]
ApplyModeSetConfig [nvidia_modeset]
nv_drm_atomic_apply_modeset_config [nvidia_drm]
nvWriteGpEntry [nvidia_modeset]
nvPushKickoff [nvidia_modeset]
nvDIFRPrefetchSurfaces [nvidia_modeset]
This is not the original jump_label invalid-op panic. It appears to be an
nvidia_modeset deadlock during a display/runtime-power transition. It is
occurring with driver 595.84 and kernel 7.0.0-29, so the fix previously
released for Resolute does not appear to cover this failure mode.
